Unfortunately the US doesn’t “lose money” on military conquests. Military spending is a central pillar of US economy. The more of it there is, the better for them. It is why they push for eternal war, and no it’s not because of oil, that is secondary.

They are biased in the sense that they amplify resistance voices where mainstream media crushes those voices. But I have never seen them falsify reports.
